The 24th annual S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Walk with the Dragon, hosted by S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation, took place with a blast on July 19 at Lumbermenís Arch in Stanley Park.

The event raised a stunning amount of $ 416,000 despite the current global recession, thanks to the generous support and participation of the community.

Close to 12,000 people of all ages and diverse cultural† backgrounds, including over 300 teams from community organizations, public and private corporations, took part in the event.

Since 1986, the annual S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Walk with the Dragon has evolved into one of the largest community-based†† fundraising events in Metro Vancouver to raise funds, as well as to promote health, multiculturalism and community† participation. In total, over 250,000 participants have†††† attended the annual event and raised over $9.5 million††† towards the development and continuance of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. community services and programs that are not funded or under-funded by the government.

Once again, Walk 2009 was well-attended by government† officials and community leaders.† Over 70 dignitaries,††† including, representing the Prime Minister, Hon. James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official††††††† Languages; Hon. Colin Hansen, Minister of Finance and Deputy Premier of British Columbia; and His Worship Gregor Robertson, Mayor of the City of Vancouver,

A special presentation of a $100,000-cheque was made by Mr. Kin Hung Leung, Co-Founder of Kinís Farm Market, to the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation Endowment Fund.

This year, a series of companion events, including Martial Arts Expo, Dragon Idol and Anthony Lun Charity Concert, were also organized to raise public awareness of the Walk.

Anthony Lun Charity Concert

The multi-talented singer / songwriter Anthony Lun performed in a benefit concert with special guest Bianca Wu on July 31 at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts.  The charity concert, as a†††† companion event for Walk 2009, raised over $60,000 for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs and services for seniors.
